This June, the Chatham Area Public Library will host a presentation about Black Hawk, a respected Sauk leader and war chief, and the Native American history in our state and country. The presentation will take place online via Zoom..

The presentation, “Black Hawk’s View of Illinois History” will take place on Thursday, June 17 at 6:00 pm. Brian “Fox” Ellis will use his personal history and deep knowledge of Native American history to build an intimate story of America’s dark history. He’ll use insight and humor, drawing strength from the resilience of the people, to draw the audience into an encounter with Black Hawk and his band.

The event is co-produced by the Illinois Humanities Road Scholars Speakers Bureau, which invites Illinois authors, artists, and educators to share their expertise and enthusiasm with people throughout the state, enabling local nonprofit organizations to present free-admission cultural programs to their communities.

Brian “Fox” Ellis is an internationally renowned storyteller, author and naturalist. Fox is a frequent speaker on the modern Chautauqua circuit. Fox is also a museum consultant who has worked with The Field Museum and The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library.
