Chatham Area Public Library District

We envision our library as being community centered, responding to the needs of a growing and diverse population.

 

Titan Fuel for Fines

The Chatham Area Public Library will be collecting non-perishable items for Titan Fuel.

Patron can bring in items for Titan Fuel and have $1 removed from their fines per item they bring in. This program is for fines only, not lost or damaged material costs. Donated material will be accepted at the Circulation Desk.

 

August 1st - August 19th

Suggested Donations:

·     Individual cereals

·     Granola bars

·     Ramen noodles

·     Individual apple sauce

·     Individual fruits (fruit cups, etc).

 

 All snacks need to be individually packed. NO PEANUTS PLEASE.
 We are happy to partner with Walgreen's for this program.

Is there any better way to celebrate the end of summer than with some fun and games and some ice cream? All families are invited to close out our summer activities with water games on the lawn. Water limbo, wacky water races and more. Coming in August to the History Room!

Soon you will be able to come to the library and make a digital copy of your treasured memories in a variety of formats. We are expanding our capabilities to include  8 mm film and VHS cassettes (including VHS-C). We plan to have flash drives and DVDs available so that copies can be made. We hope you enjoy this edition to our already popular digitization services including slide and negative conversion, book scanning, and large bed scanner.  Please call the library at 217-483-2713 to make an appointment.

Family Games!

Join us in the library for our monthly 10 and up Game Nights on the first Wednesday of every month. The library has a fantastic assortment of fun and challenging board games, and we love teaching you how to play. Some of the games we will play include: Tsuro, Splendor, Tiny Epic Galaxies, Settlers of Catan, and many more. Game days will be July 5th, August 2nd, and September 6th at 6 p.m.
 
Please join us in the library for another fun-filled Family Game Day! On Thursday, August 10th from 1 - 4 p.m., we will have our galleries full of fun and challenging games. Family Game Day is open to all ages.

Craft Night!

Craft Night is held the third Tuesday of each month at 6:00 p.m.; each month we will do a make and take project. Join us for some fun! Registration is required.  Please note this is an adult program.
 
August 15th – This month we’ll be
making tin can lanterns out of old tin cans. Please bring a hammer and a pair of pliers if you have them available.

Writers' Group

Our Writers’ Group meets on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. We welcome writers of all levels of experience and genres to join us for critique of member’s pieces, writing exercises, and discussion.
