Some of our featured collections are displayed below.

Newsletter Collection:

Chatham Area Public Library and the Glenwood High School Library are excited to bring you a collection of high school newsletters ranging from 1929 – 1971.  It begins with “The Ink Spot” from Ball Township and “The Chat” from Chatham.  After the consolidation of schools in the late 1940s, “The Ball Chat” was born.   Finally, of course, we have the “Glen-Echo.”  To view the collection on Archon, navigate to “Collections,” “Newsletters,” and then press the “On-line Images/Records” to expand the list or Click here to go to archive.

Scrapbook Collection:

We’ve digitized a few of the scrapbooks in our collection and present them here to you.  Some are from our unofficial historian Opal Lee (namesake of the Opal Lee Chatham History & Genealogy Room here at the library) and others are from talented community members dedicating to preserving our history.  To view the collection on Archon, navigate to “Collections,” “Scrapbooks,” and then press the “On-line Images/Records” to expand the list or  Click here to go to archive.

Objects Collection:

We have more than books at the Chatham Area Public Library!  There are trophies, military uniforms, tools, old children’s toys, and more.  Use this database to see what we have and you can always make an appointment to see our treasures in person.  Our Local History Librarian would love to help.  To view the collection on Archon, navigate to “Collections,” “Objects,” and then press the “On-line Images/Records” to expand the list or Click here to go to archive.

Newspaper Clipping Collection:

Our staff and volunteers have spent years collecting and compiling articles for local papers that are significant to the history of Chatham.  Now, we bring them to you in the comfort of your own home!  You can browse by topic and each record will have a PDF document attached.  The PDFs are text-searchable, so you can search within the document if you are looking for a specific word (e.g. “Miller”).  To view the collection on Archon, navigate to “Collections,” “Newspaper Clippings,” and then press the “On-line Images/Records” to expand the list or Click here to go to archive.

Document Collection:

Our document collection’s most exciting artifact is the original plat of Chatham from 1836.  To view the collection on Archon, navigate to “Collections,” “Documents,” and then press the “On-line Images/Records” to expand the list or Click here to go to archive.

Photo Collection:

Browse through our images of Chatham’s past.  You’ll be surprised at how much has changed!  Our photo collection grows all the time.  If you have photographs you would like to donate, please contact our Local History Librarian.  Help us preserve our community’s history!  To view the collection on Archon, navigate to “Collections,” “Photographs,” and then press the “On-line Images/Records” to expand the list or Click here to go to archive.
